Well, I’m sure like everyone the dream of getting rich quick and retiring young to live in the lap of luxury and travel to exotic places springs to mind when we see the internet ads for home computer businesses that have dollar signs everywhere. However, the fact of the matter is that with any business there’s work involved. What you put in is what you’ll eventually reap. There are many other good reasons for starting a home computer business, and I’d like to take this time to cite just a few.
My number one is the prospect of being my own boss. This isn’t for everyone. Self-discipline is a requirement. You’re in the driver’s seat and have complete responsibility for your business success. That’s kind of intimidating I realize, but I’ve always found that even in my regular employment, that a personal assignment of which I have ownership compels me to work hard and do my best.
Number two would probably have to be setting your own schedule and hours. How enticing is that? Again, I caution you that you need to be disciplined, but not having to get your boss’s permission to leave for an appointment or attend your child’s school event is certainly a strong motivator. You have the freedom to incorporate your life and family into your work schedule instead of your work schedule dictating your free time. No guilt about leaving your co-workers high and dry or missing that all-important meeting. Makes for the best of both worlds.
